Kwandile Sikhosana

Humanitarian and/or Voluntary Leadership

Mr Sikhosana holds certificates in Project Management, Community Development, Entrepreneurship and Business Development. He is currently pursuing a Law Degree (LLB). He an advocate for many issues in his community and has been invited to talk on those issues on various media platforms. He presented at TedxTalk – Pretoria a talk titled “From a Shack to a President”. This opportunity came at a time when he was working on configuring school classes into Libraries with Sarah Madingwana. Donating books to disadvantaged schools and ensuring that public schools have access to libraries, information and resources.

He was part of a panel of people working towards the establishment of a University in the City of Ekurhuleni. He participated in tv interview on Hope with Zola (MojaLove TV) as a contributor to establishing community development centres in Mthatha and Tembisa. He recently participated in a BBC documentary with a team that included Sarah Madingawana talking about their work and the inspiration that they are bringing into the entrepreneurial landscape in the Country and some of the inroads that they have made thus far.

His career has seen him establish the Daveyton Book Club, he has trained over 500 students in Project Management with Insurance SETA and Kezla Investment. They have established 14 libraries in disadvantaged schools. Planted fruit trees in 120 schools across Ekurhuleni for an initiative in partnership with SA National Parks and Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries. Trained 60 students in Business Development with a focus on formalizing the township economy. Partnered with Growth Point and National Educational Trust (Lakeside Mall) to train 200 kids in Reading for meaning.

Mr Sikhosana made the 2017 Mail and Guardian Top 200. He made the Naspers Top 100 young Mandela’s an honour that celebrates young people that are doing exceptional work that also showcase the values of Nelson Mandela. Kwandile Sikhosana embodies the JCI principle “That service to humanity is the best work of life” through all his community outreaches, to ensure that the community of Ekurhuleni is developed through education and business skills development.

He has strived to develop as a leader and lift everyone as he rises. He is passionately driven in changing the Education systems and challenges in the impoverished communities through cultivating a culture of reading.
